Former Carmarthenshire councillor Roy Harries dies aged 85

Tributes have been paid to former Carmarthenshire councillor Roy Harries, who has died aged 85.

Colleagues said Amman Valley would feel the loss after Roy's death. Tributes paid to him include the leader of Carmarthenshire council, Kevin Madge, describing him as a role model.

He had been Cwmamman Labour Party's longest serving member, a former mayor of the old Dinefwr borough council, and served on the county council.

His funeral will be held at Bethania Chapel in Glanamman on Wednesday.

Mr Harries was married to his wife Estella, and is also survived by his four daughters, and four grandchildren.
