DINEFWR and District Ladies Bowls League leaders Carmarthen experienced a bad day at the office and a 30-22 loss at Gwaun-cae-Gurwen's green, only able to establish a solitary point.

And it could have been even worse if the luck hadn't swung in Carmarthen's favour on rink two. GCG's Noreen Liles was 15-12 in front of Mair Evans going into the last end, but three accurate woods were delivered by Carmarthen to tie the rink. The third Evans wood went to a nervy measure, with Carmarthen sighs of relief sounding when the outcome went their way.

Llandeilo were also involved in a tight tussle in the Gwendraeth Valley and only lost to hosts Cross Hands 30-28.

Llandeilo found the green slightly heavy for their liking and lost on rink one to Cross skip Gwlithyn Jones. But it was a different story on rink two where both teams were level going into the last end.

Llandeilo trio Eirlys Rowlands, Jean Stancer and Sara Nichols managed to guide in two scoring woods to seal two points and a narrow 15-13 rink victory.
