A CARE worker has been arrested on suspicion of a series of burglaries at the homes of vulnerable people.

The 30-year-old worked for a firm which provided residential support for elderly or disabled people living in the community.

The Evening Post understands the woman was arrested by police investigating a series of incidents at addresses in Gorseinon, West Cross, Dunvant and Pontarddulais during November.

She is currently on police bail pending further inquiries.

The carer worked for Fforestfach-based Home Comforts Care.

A spokesman for its parent company, Enara, said the firm was "working with the relevant authorities" over the issue.

He said: "We are aware of an on-going police inquiry into allegations about an Enara employee in South Wales.

"We are working closely with the relevant authorities and it is inappropriate to comment further at this stage."

A 22-year-old man — believed to be the carer's partner — has also been arrested in connection with the same allegations.

He, too, is on police bail.

A spokesman for South Wales Police said investigations were continuing.

He said: "I can confirm that police in Swansea have arrested a 30-year-old woman and a 22-year-old on suspicion of burglary.

"Both have been released on police bail pending further enquiries and the investigation is on-going."
