An eyewitness said that he was driving westward at around 5.45pm when he saw a car "bouncing onto its roof" in the eastbound carriageway.

Another driver heading westward, Rob Oshea, said: "I was driving past and I saw a car on its roof. Another car had pulled on to the pavement near by, perhaps to help.

"I couldn't see if anyone had been hurt but there was an ambulance pulled up behind it.

"I wasn't able to see what make it was but it was a small car."

A third person said: "The upside-down car was being driven by a woman who was sitting on the side of the road. She received treatment before being taken away in an ambulance but she seemed fine."

A spokesman for the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it had attend the scene on the request of the Wales Ambulance Service but was unable to provide further details.
