Car ends up in couple's front garden — for the ninth time
A HENDY couple are experiencing a nightmare version of Groundhog Day after a car smashed into their front garden for the ninth time in eight years.
Pensioners Joyce and Keith Walker were horrified to wake up to see their Heol y Parc garden wall had been demolished and a silver Renault Clio was embedded in their lawn.

Councillor Steve Lloyd-Janes with the latest car to crash at Heol y Parc.
The accident yesterday morning is the 23rd to take place along the B4306 Hendy to Llannon road over the past 10 years.
Mrs Walker, aged 68, said: "We are very shaken up. I just got up and let the dog out when I heard a bang, and there was the car through the wall.
"We have been here for eight years and this is the ninth time this has happened.
"It is very upsetting, our hearts are racing and we feel upset.
"We are proud of our bungalow but this keeps on happening."
Mrs Walker said the main issue is the speed of cars using the road.
"They come down fast on the road and lose it on the bend and end up in the wall," she said.
"All of the accidents, apart from one, since we have been here have taken place between 6am and 9am.
"There was one near miss 18 months ago and there was an another accident the year before that.
"We would like to have a speed camera."
Dyfed-Powys Police, who arrived at the scene at 7.55am, said no-one had been injured or charged with any offences relating to the incident.
The Walkers' next door neighbour Heather Hopkins, who has lived in the road for 45 years, said her husband has logged all the accidents.
The 75-year-old said: "In the past 10 years all this has been happening on a regular basis, with 23 accidents."
Calls for road safety measures along the stretch have now been stepped up.
Hendy councillor Steve Lloyd-Janes, said he had hoped the speed calming measures would be finished by now.
"I am really disappointed that the road safety measures are taking such a long time. There are three houses affected and this is the 15th wall that has been knocked down," he said.
Llanelli MP Nia Griffith said: "I am calling on the county council to pull out all the stops to complete the traffic calming measures here as soon as possible.
"If the work had been done by now, then perhaps this accident would have been avoided."
Carmarthenshire Council traffic management and parking services manager John McEvoy said: "I have not had a report from the police yet on the circumstances of the accident.
"The roadworks are ongoing to implement the traffic calming scheme at Heol y Parc. We would ask the contractor to expedite the works as quickly as possible."

“It amazes me that Stig (What is a Stig? The only Stig I know is from the children classic Stig of the Dump ¿ oh makes sense now ¿ a dump where rubbish is left!) accuses me of spouting rubbish when everything he has said has proved to be wrong and everything I had said on this matter has proved to be correct!
If you know it and the rest of the world knows it then you and the rest of the world is wrong!
Now rather than take up too much space on this board with the explanation of why you and the rest of the world is wrong I shall leave it on my blog site. If you put bigboysrules.blogspot.com into your address bar it should take you to it.
As I predicted right at the start we would get plenty of people coming on here saying I am wrong when I say ¿Speed doesn¿t kill ¿ never has never will¿, and yet not one of them has had the strength of their own convictions to accept my challenge. As I also predicted the £100 is still in my pocket and it always will be. Perhaps Stig would like to earn £100 for his favourite charity ¿ but he won¿t. He will just run away and carry on calling people childish names. I don¿t see why he is so afraid though, I mean if everyone in the world knows I am wrong it should be easy money.
What¿s happened to Heather? We haven¿t heard from her since she said I ought to increase the wager to £1000. I accepted and of course she made off as fast as her broomstick could carry her.”

“Bob Swansea is going to have to be a bit more forthcoming. Who do you want to answer what question? If you are referring to me then I think I have answered it when I said "Speed doesn't kill - never has never will"
I think that's pretty clear.”

“No Stan I have written a couple of books and countless articles but can¿t claim to have written War & Peace (can¿t even claim to have read it).
I can assure you I am not an ¿angry individual¿, I just get a bit frustrated when ignorant people like you and Heather come on these boards telling everyone they are wrong and only they are right and then when asked to put up or shut up do neither.
Why do you find being asked to justify your viewpoint as being a ¿stupid little game¿? Or is it that no-one is allowed to disagree with the great Stan? Hail Stan ¿ he who is never wrong!
If you think you are right then take the challenge ¿ anything else is just Balderdash, Bluff and Bluster.”

“¿Therefore Speed kills, does it not? ¿
No it doesn¿t, and I am ready to prove it beyond a reasonable doubt. Now if you are not even willing to put up the proof that you are right then why are you so arrogant as to expect me to put up the proof that you are wrong? You are either in the game or you are not, no doubt you are one of those ¿touchline¿ professionals who can always play the game better than the players. If you are so convinced that I am wrong then show a little faith in your belief, don¿t worry it¿s not gambling ¿ you have no chance of winning!
I¿m sure a lot of people are beginning to wonder why, if you are so convinced that I am wrong you don¿t accept my challenge to prove it.
It¿s one thing to keep making these grand gestures, ¿You¿re wrong I¿m right¿ but there does come a time when you have to step up to the crease and act rather than talk. If you are unwilling to fight your corner that¿s fine, everyone can then see that you talk a good fight but when the time comes you turn and leave.
Look at Miss Bluff & Bluster herself. ¿Why don¿t you make it a thousand Bob?¿ Fine I did, where is she now? Skulking in the background trying to figure out what drivel to come out with next.
You want me to prove it? I tell you what, just for you I¿ll take a zero off, make it £10. Now are you going to accept the challenge or not. If not then please don¿t come back on here whining I¿m not playing the game, I¿m booted and spurred and ready to go, how about you?”

“Quote Bob "Speed doesn¿t kill ¿ never has never will. Fifteen years ago I made a challenge. If someone can show me just one accident since the invention of the internal combustion engine to date where speed has been the cause of death I will donate £100 to any charity the person likes. I still have my £100"
Quote Stan "A taxi driver was killed last year it was in the EP, cause of the accident speed! the two boys were racing, if they were racing at 5mph then he wouldnt have been killed, they were travelling well over the speed limit, therefore cause of death excess speed"
Therefore Speed kills, does it not?
Please explain Bob? Forget about charity donation, please just explain yourself”

“I¿m sorry Stan your post is meaningless. You posted:
You have made a statement which you can and wont substantiate!
I assume that was a misprint you meant to write ¿can¿t¿. Of course I can substantiate my position and I have issued the challenge to you. If you fail to accept my challenge then please don¿t blame me for not proving my case.
You then say: Now provide an argument for the earlier scenario.
I¿m not sure what scenario you are talking about but I¿m going to assume that it¿s this:
¿Can you explain how speed is not a factor in this incident, because i amazed if you can prove otherwise¿
The answer is simple. I am not familiar with this accident to make any definitive pronouncements, however I¿m sure you are an honest man and if you say speed was a factor in this incident, I am perfectly prepared to believe you. I have never said or maintained that the speed of a vehicle is not a contributory factor in some accidents, why would I the reports that I have studied show that in a few cases that is so.
However since your principles about gambling are so important to you allow me to put your mind at rest. In a gamble you have some chance, however small, of winning. Here you have no chance of winning because you are wrong, so it isn¿t really gambling. Does that assuage your principles?
Heather I see you are back again sniping from the sidelines but I am ever a gentleman wishing to conform to a ladies wishes. You asked the stakes to be raised to £1000, consider them raised. Your bluff has been called my lady now are you going to put your money where your mouth is ¿ or just hide behind some more silly comments. Come on we are all waiting.”

“Bob, you are strange, whatever anyone says on this site, you manage to have a challenge. I dont gamble, that is my principle.
You have made a statement which you can and wont substantiate! Everyone who has read this thread knows that. Now provide an argument for the earlier scenario.”
