Cancer care 'will need shake-up'
CANCER charity bosses say the way services are planned in future will need to be considered carefully in Wales.
They have spoken out in the wake of new figures, which suggest the number of new cancer cases could rise by 30 per cent in the UK by 2030.
The figures have just been released by the World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF), with aging seen as a factor for the rise in cases.
Susan Morris, general manager for Macmillan Cancer Support in Wales, said: "We know the numbers of people living with and beyond cancer in Wales will double by 2030 and these figures by the World Cancer Research Fund reinforce the need to carefully plan future cancer services.
"Cancer treatment is the toughest fight many will ever face and patients are often left with long-term health and emotional problems long after their treatment has ended."
