A WOMAN campaigning against puppy farms is to spend seven days in cramped kennel-like conditions to highlight the plight many of the animals face.

The protest, to take place in an undisclosed part of Wales, will be broadcast on webcam.

West Wales-based Julie White, a member of Cariad (Care And Respect Includes All Dogs), which is supporting the move, said: "The event is a 24/7 webcam big brother-type coverage.

"A lone human female has placed herself in a position of isolation and deprivation of liberty to demonstrate the sheer cruelty for dogs that are held captive in our country just to produce for the battery puppy farming trade.

"Many of the thousands of puppies produced in Wales and Ireland are often sickly or become ill and end up in pet shops in the UK and Europe.

"We have an opportunity to end the suffering of millions of dogs around the world, don't let this opportunity pass us by."

“Such a brave lady and i'm so glad to see that she is now getting the publicity she wanted, in order to highlight the abuse of dogs in puppy farms. An end to this barbaric way of treating mans best friend, is long overdue.”

“A complete ban on the sale of puppies from pet shops, on puppy selling internet sites and in the free ads is long over due. God bless this brave lady for continuing to do what she is doing for the dogs. As an animal loving nation in this, the 21st Century, I am appalled that these hell holes still get licensed.”

“Any one who highlights the suffering of animals is to be commended. Anyone who thinks such a person is below contempt. A few day ago Dai_Chotomy informed everyone on here that "he'd had enough of me", to be honest i'd rather he felt this way about me than for me to be his friend.”

“Well done to this lovely, brave lady and thank you for doing this little story on the CARIAD 7 Day Event. I hope that you will also follow it up with a big story. It also deserves to get national media attention. People need to be aware of how many dogs are suffering on puppy farms to produce sick, unsocialised puppies. These are sold online through dealers as well as in pet shops. Always see a puppy with its mother otherwise both the mother and father will probably be shut away in appalling conditions even worse than the conditions that this lady is enduring at the moment.”
