A SWANSEA Valley town council has been asked to support a call to make a pelican crossing wheelchair and pram friendly.

The crossing in question is currently located outside Trebanos post office, on Swansea Road, but involves a step at one side, near the Colliers Arms public house.

In their February meeting Pontardawe councilors have heard that the town clerk has received a letter from a resident requesting that crossing be reviewed to improve its access to disabled residents and mothers with pushchairs.

Councillor Rebecca Lewis, who is attached to thebTrebanos ward, told members of the council that due to specific problems with access to the crossing it would not be possible to improve the access, and that the crossing would need to be moved.
