THE partner of a Swansea soldier who has served on the frontline in Afghanistan has starred in a calendar for military charity Help for Heroes.

Lisa Medwell's partner Lance Bombardier Geraint English went to Afghanistan in September 2009 and saw friends killed and others suffer life-changing injuries.

The 22-year-old from Morriston wanted to show her support for the armed forces and, along with 300 women across the UK, applied at the beginning of this year to be a part of the Pin Up for Heroes calendar which is now in its third year of fundraising for Help for Heroes.

Miss Medwell works in New Look's Morfa store, and was chosen to be in the final 14 women to star in this year's calendar.

She appears as Miss January in the calendar, followed by page three model Peta Todd, who is this year's Miss February.

Miss Medwell said: "To be able to be a part of this calendar, raising money for such a deserving cause, means a lot to me.

"I always buy Help for Heroes merchandise and wear my wristband every day!

"I have just recently asked to volunteer for the charity and will hopefully be starting in the New Year."

Miss Medwell added: "I hope that everyone supporting Help for Heroes will want to buy the calendar and we can raise even more money this year than previous years, especially at this time of year when the men and women out in Afghanistan and their families need our support more than ever."
