CD review: Beyonce — I Am . . . Sasha Fierce
FORMER Destiny's Child star Beyonce has released a repackaged version of her latest album, I Am . . . Sasha Fierce.
The Platinum Edition comes with four new songs and a DVD featuring a batch of videos of the diva herself in action.
A good few of the tracks on this album are probably well known to many, including the feminist anthem Single Ladies.
Monster hits such as Sweet Dreams also exude an enourmous amount of attitude with their feisty lyrics and fantastic riffs.
Her recent tour, which came to Britain earlier this month, was proof of how much fans here adore the Dreamgirls star. And anyone who buys this album won't be disappointed.
The extra tracks include Ego, a remix featuring Kanye West, and Honesty. Not forgetting the videos on the DVD which comes as part of the package.
For what we have here is something rare: someone who can perform and sing. While Britney manages the former, and Mariah manages the latter, Beyonce seems to have no trouble doing both at the same time, with gusto. So the DVD is what really makes this worthwhile, perhaps even for fans who already have the original release.
Halo is the stand-out track, the icing of this fantastic cake from a modern day icon.
