FIRST Cymru is helping to preserve South and West Wales's bus history by passing on one of its oldest vehicles, a 1996 Dennis Dart, to the Swansea Bus Museum.

And at the same time it is also helping to raise money for its charity partner, Macmillan Cancer Support.

Instead of selling the bus for scrap or charging the museum for what it was worth, First has given the bus to the museum but in doing so suggested that the museum make a £500 donation to First's charity partner, Macmillan Cancer Support.

First Cymru's general manager, Simon Cursio, said: "I think the work that the South Wales Transport Preservation Trust is doing to celebrate the fascinating history of public transport in Wales is really important. We are all very proud to be contributing to such a great project. In particular, I would like to praise its members for the stirring renovations that they have done, especially on some of the buses from the 1950s, 60s and 70s — they look fantastic.

"I am also glad to see the bus we have donated to them helping to support another great cause."
