Brynamman make move
CLUBS in the Llanelli District Rugby Union held their AGM at Pontyates RFC.
Vice-president Anthony John chaired the meeting.
District chairman Anthony Roberts reflected on the events of last season which ended with a very successful annual presentation dinner with guest speaker Graham Price.
The former British Lion (above) contributed to the success of the evening with his humorous address and taking time for a host of photos with players and officials alike.
All the district officers were re-elected with secretary Ellis Davies taking over the combined role of secretary and treasurer following the retirement of Bryan Edmunds.
The clubs also confirmed the admission of Brynamman to the district after their move from the Swansea District.
"Brynamman are part of the Scarlets Region and it makes sense for the club to join us," said District secretary Ellis Davies.
New teams have joined this year's league competitions which are again sponsored by internet sports service provider All Wales Sport Ltd.
Newport, Pembs and Pembroke have joined Aberystwyth, Crymych, Cardigan, Haverfordwest, Llandeilo, Newcastle Emlyn and Lampeter in division one, while Kidwelly join Cefneithin, Felinfoel, Furnace, New Dock Stars, Pontyberem and Tumble in division two.
Ammanford, Hendy, Penybanc and Brynamman have all entered teams in division three along with Betws and Pantyffynnon.
"We have more teams than we have had for a couple of years in the league this season which is an encouraging sign that local rugby is regaining its strength once again," added Mr Davies.
