Bronze discus success for Claire Williams at Paralympics
South Wales discus thrower Claire Williams has won bronze at the Paralympic Games – her first medal in three attempts.
The 24-year-old, from Carmarthen, finished fifth at both Athens 2004 and Beijing four years ago.
But Williams, who has a visual impairment, made it third time lucky by clinching a place on the podium this afternoon in the F11/12 category with a throw of 39.63m.
She had set her sights on gold before the Games after topping the world rankings.
