Britain can't survive alone
THE EU is clearly not perfect and James Cole (Have Your Say, February 13) is quite right in saying it has not prevented all wars in Europe.
However, the exchange of two World Wars causing millions of deaths for a relatively minor skirmish in a part of the Balkans that is not even in the EU sounds a pretty good deal to me!
Whether people like it or not, in world terms the UK is not a large, powerful country and it is difficult to see how we can survive on our own. The choice is play a proper role in Europe, seeking friends and allies or becoming a colony of the USA. Tony Blair showed us the dangers of the latter.
Playing second fiddle to a country that turns up leaders like George W Bush from time to time seems far more dangerous than remaining in Europe!
