Bringing some variety to war-time production
AS the magazine of the same name celebrates its 90th birthday, Briton Ferry Musical Theatre bring the feelgood, wartime musical Radio Times to the Port Talbot stage.
Written by Noel Gay (Me and My Girl), the show is packed with memorable hits from the 40s, including Run Rabbit Run and Hey Little Hen.
Directed by Barry E McIlroy, who celebrates his 25th year with the company, the production takes place in the Criterion Theatre, London, during the 1941 blitz.
As the bombs fall outside the theatre, the inside serves as the underground hideout of the BBC where the cast of Variety Bandwagon must fight against the odds as they prepare to broadcast live to America for the very first time.
