THE Stone Age history of Gower has been brought to life thanks to some hands-on activities.

Making clay pots, cords from willow bark and arrows with flint head — as well as learning to light a fire by rubbing sticks together — were all on the agenda during the sessions.

Andrew Price from Dryad Bushcraft, which organised the courses, said the Stone Age history of Gower was often over- looked.

"We have this wonderful history on our doorstep, with neolithic sites across Gower," he said.

"Everyone talks about the industrial history of Swansea, but our Stone Age history doesn't get the attention it deserves.

"The courses are very practical, and we use traditional techniques.

"The children do things like make pots while a flint knapper teaches adults the skills of making arrow heads — it brings the past to life."
