A LLANELLI town centre venue could be turned into a new four-star boutique hotel.

Carmarthenshire Council has been asked to approve plans to convert cafe-bar Le Caprice and the offices above it into a 20-bedroom hotel.

Under the scheme, the existing Langostinos restaurant would be retained to serve both hotel guests and members of the public.

In a letter to the council's head of planning, Llanelli- based Owen Banks planning and development say: "The high ceilings and long, elegant windows of the first and second floors are characterful and lend themselves to conversion to 20 en suite guest bedrooms in a boutique style."

At present, offices on the building's first and second floors are occupied on a short-term rental basis by a telephone sales company.

Le Caprice owner Byron Jenkins, who also owns the Diplomat Hotel, was unavailable for comment.
