Boss told to ship players out first

BRENDAN Rodgers has been told he must move players out before he brings any more in — forcing the Swansea City boss to put his striker search on hold.

Rodgers has made no secret of his desire to add firepower to his squad since taking over the Liberty reins in pre-season.

The Northern Irishman has been on the trail of West Ham's teenage targetman Frank Nouble for weeks, and he is also understood to have at least four other Premier League forwards on his wish list.

And it is not only in attack that Rodgers is keen to strengthen.

The former Reading manager revealed last weekend that he is keen to add another experienced goalkeeper to his squad and has had former Hibernian stopper Yves Makabu-Makalambay on trial.

Rodgers also showed his desire to recruit another defender with a deadline-day bid for Motherwell's Mark Reynolds, which was rejected by the Scottish club.

And he is also hoping to bolster his midfield by landing Arsenal starlet Henri Lansbury on a long-term loan deal. But Rodgers, who is hoping to make free agent Kemy Agustien only his second Swansea signing, has been informed by the club's owners that he must trim his squad before adding any more new faces.

That does not mean Rodgers will be forced to get rid of one of his more influential players, such as Darren Pratley or Ashley Williams. Instead, Swansea will look to make room on the wage bill by sending a handful of fringe players out on loan.

Shaun MacDonald joined Yeovil before the summer transfer window closed last week, and Rodgers will now attempt to offload a handful of others who are unlikely to get much first-team action.

The new man is keen to bring further fresh blood to the Swansea playing staff, but his hands are tied by some of the contracts dished out before he arrived.

    “Paul, Reality,

The story is true, my colleague spoke to BR on the training ground yesterday and it is my understanding he will be 'quoted' in the post today, so one in, one out is a reality not a non story as you suggested.
Incidentally, Rickster, Augustein (if signed) is unlikely to play until November because of injury.”

“we didnt offer 5 millions for caicaedo or w.e his name is, just proves the people moaning, dont follow this club as much as the non moaners, as we all know that we never offered 5 mill for him, we offered a loan deal, and probs no view to buy, what was said is that he was bought by man city fot between 5 and 7 mill and that is what he is/was worth, i think wel be fine with dobbie, and beattie as cover when hes fit, we have not seen his best, all we need is lansbury and or augustien untill bodde returns around january HOPEFULLY”

“If this story is true, then HJ is a liability. Scoring goals hasn`t been a problem for a couple of months, it is was all last season. We could be looking for a new manager in the new year if HJ is involved in this. To all the poster who say stop moaning, answer me this; you are all happy with no goals, Pintado, Kuqi and Beattie then? The opportunity to shift the deadwood has gone for now, we certainly shouldn`t sell our best players. If this story is true I say again, HJ is a liability for this club.”

“HJ is an extremely prudent chairman who lacks ambition and money.

Time for him to go and give BR a chance with a new stiker. If we want mediocrity then that's all we will get.

It's no coincidence that the previous two managers left for similar reasons.

If we look forward then we might achieve something, if we look back then we certainly won't.

Time to move on with a far more positive outlook and give BR the backing he needs.”
