THE arrival of the White Book of Carmarthen in Swansea will be celebrated today.

The book was inspired by the 13th Century Black Book of Carmarthen — the oldest and most treasured manuscript in the National Library of Wales. And the White Book, or Llwfr Gwyn, has been making its way across Wales, with the aim of promoting World Peace.

The book is the brainchild of Mererid Hopwood, the first woman to be crowned Bard at the National Eisteddfod of Wales. She said: "This is about making peace through peaceful ways.

"We're presenting peace as a goal, making it personal and making publicity for the cause, even if it's only to encourage people to think about what this means to them, and how we all, wherever we may be, might contribute to the realisation of this aim. Peace is possible."
