Bolton set to move for Ferrie in 24 hours
BOLTON are ready to make another move for Ferrie Bodde in the next 24 hours.
The Premier League club had a £2.5m offer for the Dutch midfielder rejected last week, but manager Gary Megson is still thought to be keen on the player.
-

Wanderers bid may rise to £3m with more money up front as the initial offer was made up of add-ons.
But it is sure to fall well short of Swansea's £5m valuation of the 27-year-old
Bodde is now back in Holland having returned to Swansea on Wednesday for crunch talks with manager Paulo Sousa and chairman Huw Jenkins to explain why he missed the start of pre-season training on Monday.
That has gone some way to heal a rift that developed after Sousa dubbed the playmaker "disrespectful" and his representatives hit back by criticising the price tag Swansea placed on the ex-Dutch Under23 international.

“Taff, I thought the whole point of looking at players like Bodde was that Megson wants to change way we play. I agree last year was the most dour and unimaginative I've ever suffered through but give him the chance to change, then, if he falls short . . . see what Hiddink's up to.”

“Leigh says "we should be getting what we ask for a player at this level". What nonsense. Haven't you heard of negotiation? Just beacuse Swansea say they want £5M doesn't mean he's worth it or that it's what they want. Perhaps it's just a ploy to get £4M. Or do you think they should ask £10M and another team should just pay up. Utter nonsense. A player is only worth what someone will pay for them. If someone bought another player for £6M it has nothing to do with Bodde. Don't forget that Bodde is still injured, so an injured player is always going to be worth less than a fit player, other things being equal.
You ask why we should sell our players for less. The short answer is that most Swans players are worth less. Also Bodde hasn't been sold, so you have no idea whether he'll be sold for £3m, £5M or not at all.
I agree with Beefy and Bolton fan. Good comments.”

“A players only valued at what others are prepared to pay for him.
If £2.5m is the best offer Bodde attracts that is what he's worth, other players from the CCC who have moved for bigger fees are all established players who are 100% fit.
Anyone signing Bodde in his present condition would be taking a massive gamble.
Talk of £5m is total nonsense.
I think we should cash in on him now as he's obviously not committed to the Swans and after such a serious injury may never be the same player we saw briefly last season anyway.”

“Very interesting to read this story from a Swansea fans point of view. We haven't really seen a lot of of Bodde - so a lot Wanderers fans would tell you that 5 million is WAY over the odds. I reckon selling a player is a bit like selling a car, you always ask for at least 30% more than it's worth and expect to be bartered down. The comparison someone made with Kevin Doyle doesn't really stand up as Doyle's got a proven record in the Premier League (and is still way overvalued IMO). I saw someone else mentioning that you should sell Bodde and use the money to bring in Giggs, Scholes or Speed?????? Speed, possibly - great player for us btw, but Giggs or Scholes????? You're having a laugh aren't you? Anyway - we'll see what happens. Best of luck for the new season - was a pleasure to watch you play last year, which is more than can be said for our shower. I remember when Bolton were a footballing side.... sigh!”

“We should not sell any player unless we get somewhere near thier true value because other clubs will see us as a soft touch, think they can offer peanuts and get our players on the cheap and lets not go down the road saying we need an older midfielder like GS.
Joe Allen did a great job last season after FB got injured why
not give him full praise and have faith in is ability roll on the
8 August.”
