Bike convoy tribute to 'passionate' Skewen motorcyclist Harold Knight
A CONVOY of motorcyclists will descend on Margam on Friday to say goodbye to one of their own.
Popular Skewen resident Harold Knight passed away at his home in Heol Ffranc, Skewen, last week.
The 60-year-old, who was known affectionately as 'H', was a passionate motorcyclist who travelled all over Europe with his wife Lys, attending rallies and making friends.
Many of those friends and acquaintances will be joining Mr Knight's funeral, which will be held at Margam Crematorium on Friday.
His sister Mavis said: "He was always into his bikes, he was a member of the Mayflower Club and travelled all over Europe.
"He was also into his fishing, he was a member of the Neath and Dulais Valley Angling Club, he loved the outdoors.
"We think there will be people coming from all over the country."
Mr Knight was born in Cadoxton and had lived in Skewen for the past 30 years.
He was a welder, working at many local firms over the years.
His funeral will mark his love for bikes, with a special motorbike hearse being used in the service.
"There will be a convoy of motorcycles behind it," his sister added.
"Lys has had a box full of cards from all over the country.
"She is a biker too, every year their holiday in Europe would be to a rally.
"It has been a terrible shock."
His nephew Gareth Jones added: "He was just a fantastic man, he was well liked.
"I went fishing with him when I was younger and that has even influenced my nephew now, Ethan is quite the little fisherman.
"He would do anything for anybody and he loved his cats — he was fantastic.
"Friday will be an appropriate way to mark his life. We want it to be a celebration for him."
Mr Knight's funeral will be held at Margam Crematorium at 2pm on Friday.
