Big day down at the Garden
THINGS are about to get BIG at Aberglasney Gardens as mammoth marrows, gigantic pumpkins and whole range of over-sized foods line-up to do battle in the first Giant Vegetable Competition .
The competition, launched in April during RHS National Gardening Week , will be judged by 11 time gold medal winner at the Chelsea Flower Show Medwyn Williams, MBE.
"We've received a large number of entry forms for the competition and I'm confident that Medwyn won't be disappointed with the standard of entries we receive," said head gardener Joseph Atkin.
"This is clearly a competition that has captured the imagination of people locally as I know that many of those entering have never grown vegetables before. The whole gardening team here at Aberglasney is really looking forward to the event."
Not that you need to be a competitor to enjoy the day.
Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the gardens while perusing the lovingly reared giant's on display.
All visitors will receive a complimentary glass of mulled cider, to get advice from some of the experts on hand, plus there'll be a pumpkin hunt to keep the elittle ones entertained.
