Beware of independence
ALAN Stafford Jones (Have Your Say, Sept 12) advocates a dangerously early bid for independence for Wales.
Many needs, too numerous to mention here, are serviced through our membership of the UK all of which would need to be addressed before we go it alone.
Such nationalistic fervour could cause real hardship; allegiance won't put food on tables or pay bills and taxes which would inevitably rise significantly with independence.
Premature independence would, without doubt, prove economically disastrous.

We already appear at times to be somewhat isolated, eg our inability to recruit specialists and poor inward investment, and independence would exacerbate such problems.
Economic growth would be harmed for years to come.
Wales needs several years to properly prepare for independence and the dismal performance of the Assembly to date hardly fills us with confidence.
