Benefits of pupil grant
CHILDREN from poorer backgrounds are starting to benefit from a pupil deprivation grant, according to the Welsh Liberal Democrats.
All schools in Wales now receive £450 per child aged five to 15 who is on free school meals.
The Lib-Dems surveyed 1,630 schools in Wales, with a third of them responding.
AM Aled Roberts, shadow education minister, said: "The link between social background and educational under-achievement is still strong in Wales."
