Benefit axe plan angers charity
A WELSH charity says young people will be left out in the cold if the Government forges ahead with plans to axe housing benefit for the under 25s.
Barnardo's bosses have made the warning ahead of the Chancellor's autumn budget statement on Wednesday.
The charity is raising concerns that the plan could have a potentially devastating effect on some of the most vulnerable in society, including children leaving the care system aged just 18.
A YouGov survey carried out on behalf of the charity found more than a third of UK parents expect to offer their children financial support for the rest of their adult lives.
Barnardo's Cymru director Yvonne Rodgers, said: "The reckless proposal to remove housing benefits from under-25s risks leaving some of this country's most vulnerable young people out in the cold." She added young people are already struggling to find a job as 1 million are out of work.
