At White Springs Fishery, Pontarddulais, meanwhile, fishing has been good despite the bad weather.

The fish have enjoyed the wet conditions, with bags of 80-100lb reported.

Peter Williams landed 80lb 12oz off the match lake, while John Charlesworth managed 87lb 8oz off the canals.

The pit has been good, with Paul Dobbs getting carp to 15lb fishing one of the new pegs.

Over the coming weeks the fishery is upgrading all the pegs on the new canal.

The match lake competition saw Rob Jones win with 61lb, James Thomas second with 60lb 2oz and Luke Sorokin third with 58lb.

The specimen lake has been quite good, especially for Gary Snapper, who completed a 24-hour session off peg 3A, fishing midwater using pop-ups along with White Springs banana bollies to land five fish. His best was a 32lb 10oz one, then a 27lb and three more all over 20lb.

Craig Brown fished the point, peg 8, to land seven fish over a weekend including ones of 26lb and 21lb.

Ian Powell landed a nice 28lb mirror and a 17lb two-tone ghostie.
