Bay rowing event a big success
MORE than a thousand people flocked to Swansea Bay to watch Mumbles Rowing Club host their first ever Welsh Sea Rowing Association league race.
Sunday's regatta featured more than 20 boats and 100 rowers in an event which marked the club's 125th anniversary.
With their first league race proving such a big attraction, Mumbles Rowing Club now have hopes of staging the World Championships.
"It was very successful," said the club's chairman Alan Longhurst.
"Sea rowing is a great spectator sport, a community sport, and the coast was absolutely thronged with people.
"Hopefully we can make it an even better experience for spectators next year and, if we can do that well, we might be able to host the 201 5 World Championships. We'll certainly put in a bid."
