Bar manager fined after music found to be too loud
A BAR manager has been fined after neighbours complained the music was too loud.
The Strand bar had already been given a Noise Abatement Notice after previous complaints.
Manager Nicola Phillips appeared in front of city magistrates and admitted breaching that order after council officers received two complaints on different nights in July.
Bill Parry, for Phillips, said she had since put in place air conditioning and locks on the window to stop customers opening the windows in hot weather.
He said she had been working with neighbours to try and minimise the impact of the bar on them.
"She's not the owner of the premises but finds herself in the eye of the storm," he said.
She was fined £200 and told to pay £400 in costs.
