MUSIC lovers have been treated to the sounds of Briton Ferry Silver Band at a Neath attraction.

A bandstand marathon hit the high notes at Victoria Gardens, which was part of a UK-wide community event.

The town centre garden recently received a £1.4 million renovation, which included work on the 19th- century bandstand.

Neath North councillor Mark Protheroe said it was nice to see the community get involved with the gardens.

"It would be nice to see other acts follow suit and come and perform in the bandstand," he said.

"The more use the garden gets the better."

Bands from all over the country played in bandstands simultaneously for the event, which was organised by Superact, who aim to bring music of all genres to communities across the UK.
