BBC Wales will make Atlantis to replace hit show Merlin

BBC Wales has been commissioned to make a replacement for Saturday evening hit Merlin.

The show, Atlantis, will be filmed in Wales and Morocco.

Its writer and creator is Howard Overman, who penned several Merlin episodes and is the man behind cult show Misfits.

A spokesman said Atlantis would tap the store of Greek myths and legends through the arrival of young Jason.

BBC Wales, which makes Doctor Who, has also been commissioned to make new Cold War spy thriller The Game, which starts filming later this year.
