LLANDYBIE Men's Tennis Club's first team lost at Cardiff Castle by five events to one.

The losing combinations were Aled Griffiths and Chris Gray, Iwan Nicholas and Rhodri James with Matthew Davies and Craig Armstrong winning one event.

The men's second team were at home to Haverfordwest and lost 4-2. Iwan Nicholas and Chris Harris won their events.

But the pairings of Jonathan Thomas and Nathan Thomas, and Matthew Rees and Steffan Barnes lost.

Steffan Barnes was making his league debut for the club.

The ladies' team travelled to Haverfordwest and lost 4-2. The combination of Chloe Alpine and Gaymor Sutcliffe won two events and the remaining pairing were Daphne Jones and Tricia Evans.

Matches were supported by Doug and Eira Williams.

The next fixtures for the club see the ladies at home to Aberystwyth, while the men's first team are at David Lloyd Tennis Centre of Cardiff. The men's second team visit Haverfordwest.

Coaches Matthew Davies and Rhodri James attended Llandybie Primary School to give pupils age three to six a taster session based on an Olympic theme event the school are promoting this summer.

The duo return to involve all pupils at the school in the next few weeks.
