Avoid mayhem on the buses
MANY readers have commented on the recent success of the recent Swansea Bay two-day air show but highlighted the dismal bus service.
I, like many others queued up at the Quadrant to attempt to squeeze on overfilled Oystermouth service buses.
It was absolutely ridiculous how many spectators, with no announcement of special buses, were forced to take their cars. Due to the grossly inadequate travel arrangements, mayhem prevailed at home time, with traffic at a standstill for long periods. Why wasn't a dedicated shuttle bus service provided to and from The Quadrant?
We now have the football season upon us with similar problems of parking and congestion anticipated in the vicinity of The Liberty Stadium.
The welcomed success of Swansea City Football Club has brought with it great problems with traffic congestion and illegal parking problems in residential areas of Landore, Cwmbwrla, Brynhyfryd and Plasmarl.
These problems could be greatly reduced, and even eradicated if football fans knew that they were assured of a dedicated bus services on match days, even if, initially, only to and from The Quadrant.
Why have First travel and Swansea councillors such little vision? Perhaps they could get together and provide an explanation to puzzled fans as to any problems with providing such a necessary service, with a response in this newspaper? I won't hold my breath!
