Attack on 'nasty' authority
A STINGING attack was launched on Carmarthenshire Council by independent councillor John Jenkins at the town council meeting.
Mr Jenkins, arguing for power to be devolved to Llanelli, said: "Every instinct, every fibre of my being causes me to side with Councillor Winston Lemon. As someone who has seen Carmarthenshire Council in action, all know that it's a nasty little authority.
"Llanelli's interests never shine through down there," he added. And he contrasted Carmarthen's shopping centre with Llanelli's.
"Carmarthen town had the first bite of the cherry with a wonderful addition, with the chief executive's every second of attention," he said.

"It seems Llanelli's is slapdash, make it up on the back of a fag packet.
"It's that attitude and atmosphere in County Hall which causes people in Llanelli to yearn for an authority that puts its interests first."
He suggested that the town and rural councils should work together on projects.
"We could go as far as outright merger between the town and the rural, representing 40,000 people with a budget of £3.5 million," said Mr Jenkins.
The council backed Mr Jenkins's motion to form a better governance group for Llanelli and engage with the rural council and other community councils in the area, if necessary.

“The Xmas lights, you get more out of the COUNTY COUNCIL than the rest of the county , and all the parks in the LLANELLI are paid for by the COUNTY COUNCIL, And you add the money for the SCARLETS , THE COASTAL PATH, the new cinema , even £20.000 for the projector to a private firm plus many more that i dont have time to put down , so get in todays world empty shops are every were , plus there are no jobs in all of the county”
