WELSH language campaigners have welcomed Plaid's call on the Welsh Government to return to publishing a fully bilingual record of its plenary sessions.

Members of Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg backed the view put forward by Ceredigion AM Elin Jones in a blog post.

She said: "As the draft Record becomes public after 24 hours, our opinion is that the scheme should state that this Record should be published in both Welsh and English within 24 hours."

It means that the move has won the backing of three out of the four political parties.

They want to see the record of proceedings printed in English and Welsh at the same time.

Sian Howys, rights spokeswoman Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg, said: "We very much welcome Elin Jones's statement and hope the Assembly management, the Commissioners, will agree with her.

"It's important to put the Assembly's Languages Scheme on firm foundations from the start."

“Penyfai why bother u say!. That's simple because both English and Welsh are our official languages. In many parts of England, very little English is spoken. Travel to some inner city's and you will not hear a word of English spoken. Any Government information sent out will be in English though, because it is the official language.”

“Seeing that English and Welsh now have equal status, i would think it be only natural that reports are published in both our languages.”
