Ashley Williams could be out for two or three more weeks, says Coleman
WALES manager Chris Coleman has said Swansea City skipper Ashley Williams could be sidelined for two or three more matches for his club.
Williams was ruled out of the World Cup qualifiers against Macedonia on Friday night and Belgium on Tuesday after undergoing a scan on the ankle ligament that has seen him feature in just one of Swansea’s last six games.
And Coleman suggested the 29-year-old is facing at least another couple of weeks out of action.
“We scanned him and it was clear he could not play,” said Coleman.
“Michael Laudrup said he had him on the bench at Southampton just as a number, and looking at the injury I can see that he was never going to play.
“But it was good to have him here and take a look for ourselves. I am not sure when he will be back, but I am not sure he will be back for the next two or three games after this international camp.”
Swansea return to Premier League action with a home match against Sunderland a week tomorrow before travelling for a Europa League clash with Kuban Krasnodar four days later.
West Ham then visit the Liberty on October 27 before the big away derby with Cardiff a week later.
