Ashley Williams ruled out of Wales's World Cup qualifiers
Swansea City captain Ashley Williams has been ruled out of Wales's World Cup qualifiers against Macedonia and Belgium.
The Swans defender has withdrawn from the squad due to an ankle injury, adding to Chris Coleman's woes.
Ben Davies, Gareth Bale, Joe Ledley, Joe Allen, Sam Ricketts, Adam Matthews, Danny Gabbidon, and Jack Collison are all ruled out, while Andrew Crofts is injured and also suspended for the Macedonia match.
The news comes after Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup urged Coleman to rest the 29-year-old, who is battling the long-standing injury.
Wales play Macedonia in Cardiff on Friday night before heading to Brussels for an appointment with clear Group A leaders Belgium the following Tuesday.
Williams was named Welsh club player of the year on Monday, with Ben Davies winning the young player award.
