COUNCIL leader Ali Thomas is encouraging residents to take part in a walk that promotes adoption.

The council's adoption service is organising the event along Aberavon seafront tomorrow as part of the Adoption Walk Wales event. Walkers are asked to meet outside Café Remos at 2pm.

Mr Thomas said: "We want all children in Neath Port Talbot to have a safe and happy childhood in an environment where they will have the chance to reach their full potential.

"Sadly, some children are not able to have this with their birth parents and the best outcomes for them will be achieved through adoption.
