Appeal to find owner after stray cat shot
AN elderly cat is recovering after being shot several times with an air gun.
The RSPCA is appealing for information after the black cat with brown markings was found with pellet wounds in Trebanos near Pontardawe.
The elderly and thin animal was collected from Heol y Llwynau in the village on Monday, September 30.
The caller had been feeding the stray cat and the animal is now in RSPCA care.
Veterinary examination has revealed two air rifle pellets below her rib cage.
RSPCA officer Stephanie Davidson said: “We’d like to hear from the owner as soon as possible.
“This cat has a lovely temperament and there must be an owner out there who is looking for their animal.
“If only she had been microchipped we would have located the owner quickly.
“We’d also like to hear from anyone who has information about how the cat sustained these pellet wounds.”
The RSPCA said shooting an animal is a serious offence and could result in a prison sentence of up to six months as well as a fine of up to £20,000.
If anyone has any information about this incident, they are urged to contact the RSPCA cruelty and information line on 0300 1234 999.
The charity said calls would be treated in confidence.
