THE head of an animal rescue centre has stressed it would consider the results of gas test drilling on its site before deciding on the next course of action.

Swansea councillors are today due to discuss the test drilling application by UK Methane at Llys Nini, near Penllergaer.

Llys Nini's chairwoman of trustees Sally Hyman, said: "The current planning application is for a test bore hole and, should it be granted, does not allow UK Methane or anyone else to extract anything. A further application would be needed for gas extraction."

She added: Llys Nini trustees would need to consider the results of the test bore hole very carefully before allowing anyone to apply for permission to extract gas on our site. The charity is extremely environmentally aware and sustainability underpins our whole animal welfare operation."
