ALAN Tate has joined Championship side Leeds United on loan until January 1.

The 30-year-old defender has not featured for Swansea City since the 3-0 defeat by Everton on September 22.

He has made four appearances in all so far this season — three of them starts — having been told by Michael Laudrup that he would be allowed to move on during the summer.

The Liberty fans' favourite, who made his debut for Swansea a decade ago, will hope to get some regular action in a Leeds side looking to climb the Championship table.

Neil Warnock is a long-time admirer of Tate, and has got his man after a takeover at Elland Road this week freed up transfer funds.

Tate could feature in nine games during his loan period, but is cup-tied for the Capital One Cup tie against Chelsea.

“Tate slated the Swans performance against Everton in September. He said the team played as 11 individuals. Yes they did but Tate was probably the worse player in our team. Monk is club captain but on the day Ash was team captain. They are our spokepersons. He might have got away with mouthing to the EP but he went wider and included training and fitness gripes as well.
Without his comments he and Monk who is currently having an Indian summer were going anyway. They have come to the age when players start to retire and so they move down a division or retire. What should HJ do ?. Keep them on as kit men or some other menial tasks. We are a PL club not a retirement home for ageing hackers.”

“mahatmacoat, why do you think it was tate being critical, I know he has a big mouth, but it dont mean he did it and you should not say such things unless you have evidence it is true.”

“Mahatmacoat, he is not PL standard, always gives 100%, but not up to Pl. I don`t believe Gary Monk is either, but cover is required at the back, so by necessity, not talent is reason Monk has been playing.”

“Leeds you have got a guy here that will never give less than 100% but he will always be a Jack at heart, never let the Swans down, a credit on and off the pitch to Swansea City,”

“Tate is paying the price for criticising ML in the national press. Thats why Monk has been preferred since the Everton game. Off to Leeds on loan now. Tate won't play for the Swans again while ML is here.”
