AFAN Lido ended the first half of the season with a defeat at Airbus.

And it was in the first period where the damage was done, the home side going three goals up within half an hour.

Airbus made the perfect start when Wayne Riley fired a shot past keeper Kristian Rogers into the top corner from the edge of the area in the third minute.

Chris Hartland had Lido's first effort of the game but saw his shot go just wide of the near post.

The Wingmakers went 2-0 up on 25 minutes when a Glenn Rule cross to the far post was headed home by Steve Tomassen.

And a minute later it was 3-0 when new signing Phil Bolland finished from close range.

The away side had a number of chances after the break, with Simon Prangley denied by the crossbar and home keeper Jamie Stephens making a couple of fine saves.

And Lido got their reward for a battling second-half display when Kieran Howard fired home a free-kick from the edge of the area.
