Aggrieved man stalked former fiancee
AN AGGRIEVED man stalked his former fiancee by sending her hundreds of text messages after their relationship of nine years ended.
Christopher Jones, aged 25, of Longview Road in Clase, had broken up with his partner Charlotte Matthews in January this year.
Although the pair had initially got on quite well and they were still in contact, the pair began arguing when Jones believed she had started a new relationship.
He admitted sending her more than 494 messages within six weeks between July and August this year and pleaded guilty to a charge of stalking.
His solicitor, Robert Chudleigh, said his client accepted he had acted out of line but said he had learnt his lessons.
"His actions were totally unacceptable and it was completely unfair for a young lady to be receiving telephone calls and text messages to the extent that he was sending them," said Mr Chudleigh.
"He realises the error of his ways and that the relationship is at an end and hopefully all parties can now place these matters behind them and lead their separate lives in future months and years," he added.
City magistrates fined him £350, told him to pay £85 in costs and a £35 victim surcharge.
