Details of her funeral are yet to be announced.

Her son, Huw, aged 34, said his mother had died in her sleep.

"It is a big shock for everyone," he said.

Family friend and Dylan Thomas biographer, Paul Ferris, told the Post: "Aeronwy used to do a lot of poetry readings, and was on the American lecture circuit.

"She was a tough little customer and knew her own mind. I liked her. She was friendly, and she was quite assertive.

"She would look you in the eye if she thought you were wrong about something."

Dylan Thomas, literary scholar and author of Under Milk Wood, had three children - Llewellyn, who died several years ago, Aeronwy, and a second son, Colm.
