Addict stole from church and ambulance

A DRUG addict who stole lead from a church roof and medical supplies from an ambulance has appeared in court.

Adam Lundie, 23, committed three offences in two days.

He admitted theft by finding after stealing two rolls of lead flashing from Ebenezer Congregational Church on Henrietta Street, Swansea on November 3.

He also admitted stealing medical supplies from an ambulance parked outside Morriston Hospital on October 28.

Anwen Evans, prosecuting at Swansea Magistrates' Court, said he had been treated at the hospital and was waiting for an ambulance to take him to Cefn Coed Hospital.

He was seen on CCTV entering an unattended ambulance and taking medical supplies from inside.

Hospital security went to him, searched him and found the goods hidden in his clothes. They were all recovered.

On November 2 he was spotted on the roof of Ebenezer Church.

Mrs Evans said a neighbour had called police and when police arrived he had a roll of lead flashing under each arm and a third one waiting to be taken.

Lundie also admitted possessing a bladed article after police found him with three craft knives when he was arrested for the offence at the church.

He also admitted a charge of theft taking food from CKs on High Street, Swansea on November 5.

He was seen selecting hot food from the counter and leaving the shop without paying.

A member of staff went outside and stopped two passing officers who followed him and arrested him.

Lundie he said: "Sorry, but I am starving and I've got no money."

Grayson Tanner, representing Lundie, said his client had been living at Hanover Street, Swansea, but he had been in custody for nine days and had since lost his home.

Lundie, who is a drug addict, tested positive for drugs when he arrived at the police station but Mr Tanner said his client had not used drugs since he arrived in prison.

"He has got himself clean and detoxed," he added.

Lundie was released on conditional bail until Thursday when he is due to be sentenced.
