THE Ospreys have received the news they feared on Lions star Adam Jones — that he will be out for six months.

Medical checks have confirmed the seriousness of the dislocated shoulder injury he sustained playing in the second Test against South Africa as a result of a dangerous charge from Springbok lock Bakkies Botha.

It means the region will have to play at least four Heineken Cup ties and close on half a Magners League programme without their scrummaging anchor.

And it will provide a major headache for Wales coach Warren Gatland.

The most capped Welsh tight-head of all-time, Jones has returned from South Africa with his reputation hugely enhanced after taming Tendai 'The Beast' Mtawarira, the Springbok prop who had given Phil Vickery such a torrid time a week earlier.

“To Russell the 'Welsh' are not colonialists the English maybe but we aren't English, how would you like to be called a Zimbabwean or Namibian. And I think that the incident that caused the injury was legal and not foul play, unlike Burger. It's a shame Jones will be out for so long as he's had a great tour and must now be considered one of the best tightheads in world rugby - accepting there are still some decent tightheads around like Carl Hayman.”

“In every game there has been rucks cleaned out with no binding. This rule has been ignored by teams and refs for the past five years. If Adam Jones Cannot take a hit from a fellow international player than what the hell is he doing in the Lions Team. You English Play with the aggrogance of old colonialism. He was cleaned out of the ruck hard and was injured. the song and dance that you british make is pathetic.

Go Bokke!!! Brilliant Series win over the toothless Lions.”

“Unlucky for Adam, it seems that when a Welsh player hits top form he gets a long injury. Someone should have fronted up to the Boks and gave them a good shoeing. Nevertheless a good tour, well done everyone who played.”

“Rostopher - maybe you should spend 5 minutes locked in a room with big hairy oaf - bet you would cack your pants within seconds you muppet.
Adam Jones has done brilliantly over the last few years to get to where he is - A guy who is naturally as big as he is must have to work twice as hard as other rugby players to stay as fit and strong as he has made himself. Well done Adam you did the business in SA - good luck for a speedy recovery.”

“Adam has shown on this tour what a world class player he has developed into.

Typical dirty play by the boks (no attempt to bind as he hit that ruck)

get well soon adam the though of rhys "rollerskates in the scrum" thomas packing down for wales

Is enough to give us all nightmares!”
