Action follows river pollution
SEVERAL miles of a river near Penllergaer have been polluted.
Officers from Natural Resources Wales, the body that has replaced the Environment Agency, say they acted quickly to trace the source of the incident that left the water discoloured.
Silt, soil and sediment entered the River Llan.
Natural Resource Wales says it has spoken to those responsible to prevent further discharge.
It said swift action taken by its officers led to improvements in water quality during yesterday afternoon.
But it warned people may still notice discolouration downstream from Penllergaer.
A spokesman from Natural Resources Wales said: "Luckily we were quickly able to identify the source of this pollution and lessen the impact.
"We'll monitor conditions in the river closely over the next few days and once we're confident the pollution has dispersed we'll begin a full investigation into the cause of this incident and consider what action we'll take as a result."
