999 call to Tata for lorry collision
AN air ambulance landed at Tata Steel's Port Talbot site yesterday morning, following a road traffic collision at the plant.
A spokesman for the steel giant confirmed that a crew had landed at the site in the morning, following the incident.
"A lorry had crashed into as couple of cars," said a spokesman.
"The driver has been taken to hospital, but at the moment we don't know the extent of his injuries or to which hospital he's been taken."
A spokeswoman for Wales Air Ambulance said: "I can confirm that our Swansea crew attended an RTC in Port Talbot today.
"An adult male patient was flown to the University Hospital Wales in Cardiff with a head and leg injury in a stable condition."
Crews were called to the scene at 10.22am and left at 11.15am.
The lorry driver was at the hospital by 11.25am.
A spokesman for the Health and Safety Executive said it was aware of the incident, but it was too early to say whether or not they would investigate the collision.
