Shenae Grimes and Jessica Stroup have said the attention they've garnered since landing roles in 90210 has been "weird".

The starlets spoke about their rise to prominence at the William S Paley Television Festival in Beverly Hills.

When asked about how her life had changed since joining the teen drama, Shenae - who plays Annie - said: "Where do I begin? I'm working, which is awesome, I'm being photographed a lot, which is weird."

She added: "That definitely has been the biggest shock I think. The fame thing happened quick. They all said it would happen overnight and I don't think any of us believed it and it happened."

Co-star Jessica, who plays Erin Silver, also said the attention was "weird".

"It's been wild; it's been great. It's also sucked."

She went on: "I mean the paparazzi and stuff - that's obviously a scary situation... but also it's a huge thing and if I can get some kind of recognition and maybe some day do something great with it, start like a programme or something... So this year's been very educational and amazing at the same time."

Rob Estes, who plays dad Harry Wilson in the show, praised the way the young stars were handling their fame.

"I mean they're all talented and great actors, but it's just interesting this business and LA puts a certain pressure on you. And I've seen them fight through a lot of that and they've done it well."

The show is currently airing on E4 on Mondays at 9pm.
