840g dogfish is enough to win Winter Open for Peter
PETER Richards won first prize in the Gower Rockhoppers Winter Open held in Mumbles on Sunday.
A total of 56 anglers took part, catching dogfish, flounder, undersize whiting and bass.
Richards won with an 840g dogfish, beating Chris Stephens and Andrew Bruce (820g) into second.
Ben Evans and Mal Smith shared fourth spot, both with 740g dogfish.

The Osprey Sea Angling Club based in Pembroke Dock, meanwhile, held its annual open beach fishing competition on Sunday.
A total of 74 anglers, including four ladies and seven juniors — from north of Cardigan to east of Swansea — turned out to support the club.
Twenty anglers weighed in 18 flounder and 12 lesser-spotted dogfish.
The winner was the only lady to weigh in, Sally Owen, a women's shore international angler from Cardiff with three flounder for 1kg 220gms.
Second, as he had been in 2010, was Welsh international Chris Stephens from Bridgend, with the lesser-spotted dogfish weighing 1kg 185gms.
Third was Chris's father Jeff, with three flounder for 1kg 25gms. The top junior was local boy Alex Blunsden with a dogfish of 690gms.
The pairs competition was won by Chris and Jeff Stephens with a combined weight of 2kg 210gms, with another father and son combination — Kevin and Garwyn Shortman — second with a combined weight of 1kg 895gms.
