The handbag was brown, square in shape with a zip over the top.
Inside was cash, a Sony Ericsson mobile phone, and a beige coloured purse in which there were a number of credit and debit cards, along with car and house keys.
Detective Sergeant Keith Morgan said: "I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of the Grand Theatre and in particular Western Street and saw this incident or has any relevant information to come forward."
He said the victime did not require hospital treatment.

“Shouldn't the suspect be arrested by now? city centre is crawling with CCTV.
Whats the point in having it if its not preventing or helping to solve crimes?”

“I was heartened to read of this gentleman's "have a go" attitude and am just sorry that he didn't catch the culprit.
The sad thing is that even if he HAD caught up with the thief, the outcome could have been a lot worse.
All in all, I'm glad the lady isn't too badly injured and she must be so proud of her lovely man.
I'm just so sorry that this happened to the two of you.”
